Ingeo Earth Month
Inspired by the United Nations Earth Day, Ingeo Earth Month, in its 7th edition in 2011, has grown over the past seven years reflecting the importance of showcasing product innovation through its practical applications in everyday consumer products.

This year’s Ingeo Earth Month program took the Ingeo Innovation Gallery, a tangible demonstration of the latest in low-carbon footprint consumer products, to three locations in the United States (New York, Minneapolis and Boulder) and two stops in Europe (Interpack) and Asia (Chinaplas).
The traveling Ingeo Innovation Galleries, and its 12 international eco-innovative ambassador brands, have succeeded in creating visibility and interest around a theme, responsible product innovation, sometimes seen as just another green-inspired theory, rather than a real, and present, practical business strategy.
Ingeo Earth month has not only increased its scope, visibility and number of showcased products through the Ingeo Innovation Gallery by making them visible on the international market and available to consumers, but also acquired the support and endorsement of partner organizations such as LOHAS, Climate Action and European Bioplastics, all of them leading organizations in the communication and promotion of an innovation-driven, sustainable product market.
Ingeo Earth Month is still ongoing until June 22 2011, for updates on the calendar of events and for more information go to ingeoearthmonth.com.

Interpack, Dusseldorf, May 12-18
Interpack 2011 is the world’s largest trade fair for the packaging and related processing industries. During the “Bioplastics in Packaging” (BIP) exhibit within the fair, European Bioplastics, the association representing the interests of Europe’s thriving bioplastics industry, hosted a preview of the Ingeo innovation gallery, on full display at the Ingeo booth. Together, the cooperation partners showcased the benefits and the dynamically developing status of the bioplastics industry in the pioneering packaging sector receiving very positive feedback on the Innovation Gallery and the products displayed. To many visitors it was the first hands on experience with the breadth of products on display and the vast array of practical applications of Ingeo-made consumer solutions.
During the event, Danone, announced the launch of its sustainable Ingeo Activia Yogurt Cup in the German market. The Danone Activia Cup joins hundreds of other products in the Ingeo-made lineup and is now on showcase in the Ingeo Innovation Gallery. An estimated 80,000 attendees representing 140 different countries attended this year’s Chinaplas, Asia’s largest plastics and rubber trade fair. Since organizers emphasized plastics and processes that reduce carbon footprint, Ingeo fit right in. The Ingeo Innovation Gallery was on display throughout the event for the first time in the key Chinese market and succeeded in practically demonstrating how innovative and sustainable product engineering is not only possible, but profitable and already happening.
At the Eco-Friendly Plastics Conference, a conference within Chinaplas, Peter Clydesdale, NatureWorks chief marketing officer, gave a presentation to attendees and media on the state of the biopolymers market, including technology developments. Steve Davies as 2011 chair of the Bioplastics Council, Society of the Plastics Industry, gave a bioplastics industry perspective.
